WHAT’S HAPPENING IN THE VINEYARD?
The vines have been pruned and tied down ready for next vintage. Greg has begun spraying fish and seaweed emulsion in the vineyard which promotes the cell structure of the vines making them healthier and stronger which in turn will protect them in the event of frost and also will help keep the pests away. This is a continuing part to our commitment to organic farming principles. No chemical fertilisers or pesticides are being used at Wonga Estate.

Rich deep purple, intense bouquet of black berries, the palate rich and complex, yet fine and elegant, a juicy spicy array of red/black fruits and liquorice, the tannins ripe and well-integrated oak. Alcohol: 14.5% Total Production: 350 dozen – Price: $60.00
NEW – THE FUGUE
A composition of Wonga Estate’s Heathcote Shiraz and Wonga Estate’s Yarra Valley Pinot Noir which have gradually built up into a complex form having somewhat distinct stages of development and a marked climax at the finish. Elegant but quite complex medium bodied palate of red berries, plums and cherries, well-integrated oak with a silky texture to the fine and savoury tannins. THE WINERY
Greg has been in the winery concentrating on bringing the wines up to completion for bottling.
We are extremely pleased with the results of the wild ferments in the Chardonnay. This wine is showing beautiful fruit bouquet, citrus fruit that is framed by complex mineral flavour well-integrated oak and a long finish. Six barrels have been selected for the 2008 Pinot Noir. The balance will be blended with some Heathcote Shiraz for The Fugue.
2007 Heathcote Shiraz. Another big and powerful Shiraz in the making. WINE BOTTLING 2007 Heathcote Shiraz will be bottled in November/December.
2008 Yarra Valley Chardonnay will be bottled in January.
2008 Yarra Valley Pinot Noir will be bottled in December/January. |

WINE SALES
Jady has also been busy selling wine and is now looking at having a broker representing Wonga Estate in Victoria thereby giving customers the ability to purchase our wines in exclusive retail outlets in and around Melbourne. This will also allow Jady to concentrate more in the vineyard. Wonga Estate wines are now sold in leading restaurants in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria.
Our New Wine “The Fugue” has made it’s way into New South Wales. Catalina in Rose Bay have put The Fugue on their list, in fact all four Wonga Estate wines are now available at Catalina. Also Vine Providore of Fine Wines, Red Hill also has The Fugue for sale. 100 dozen of The Fugue was made, 48 dozen is available in Queensland and New South Wales and 37 dozen for Victoria of which, at the time of writing, there is only 25 dozen available in Victoria. As you will all be aware due to frost there is no Wonga Estate 2007 Yarra Valley Chardonnay for sale. We currently have in stock 50 dozen 2006 Yarra Valley Chardonnay for Victoria.
Our 2008 Yarra Valley Chardonnay will not be available for sale until approximately October 2009. Should you wish to secure either The Fugue or the 2006 Yarra Valley Chardonnay we strongly recommend that you do so early to avoid disappointment. .
