What's Happening in the Vineyard?
" Spring has sprung, the grass has riz, I wonder where the rain is????
Some say the rain is on the way , but that's absurd, it's gone away.
Woolly buds on the vine, are bursting open, that's divine!
Nights are clear and we do fear, but fingers crossed , no frosts appear ."

Harvest 2007
As previously advised in our last newsletter Wonga Estate did not produce a 2007 chardonnay nor pinot noir as our vineyard was affected by frost. We did however make a 2007 Heathcote shiraz .
The vines denuded by severe frosts in 2006 that affected the Yarra Valley and surrounds.

Wine Development in Barriques
2006 Pinot Noir - The pinot noir has remained in oak for extra maturation and will be bottled mid October.
"Good bright crimson colour, ripe cherry berry fruits, medium bodied, attractive ripe fruit on the palate with elegant attributes."
2006 Heathcote Shiraz – The shiraz has now been on French oak for 18 months and will be bottled prior to Christmas.
2007 Heathcote Shiraz – The 2007 Heathcote shiraz has finished MLF (malolactic fermentation) and will be maturing in barrel for another 15 months.

New Releases – 2005 Pinot Noir
"Bright red purple, light bodied, elegant and restrained, pure red pinot fruits with well integrated oak and excellent length.

2005 Heathcote Shiraz
"Rich purple colour, intense bouquet of berries, leather and cigar box, followed by a full bodied palate of cassis, liquorice, spice, dark chocolate liqueur plums, vanilla and well integrated oak with fine ripe tannins"

Wonga Estate Family Day
Date to be held: Sunday, December 9th, 2007
Time: 11.00am - 3.00pm
Place this date in your diary. The Wonga Estate Family Day is our way of saying thanks to everyone who has purchased wine from us throughout the year. The Wonga Estate Family Day, which is held annually, is a casual family orientated day where you and your family can relax and enjoy food, wine and activities in the lead up to the busy Christmas period. Invitations with more details will be sent out a few weeks prior to this date.
As our family membership numbers are growing could you please indicate to us prior to 16th November 2007 as to whether you will be attending our Family Day, and if so, how many adults and children will be coming.
