Inaugural Wonga Estate Family Day held on Sunday, December 3 2006
Thank you to all who attended our first family day function. We hope you all had a good time.
A special thank you to Carylene Joseph, Wendy and Stephen Greaves and Maris for assisting us on the day.
The Wonga Estate Family Day Competition was a little difficult however there were three equal winners. Each will receive a bottle of our 2003 Chardonnay. The winners are - Don & Tinde Vary, David & Vesna Lloyd and Carylene Joseph.
Apologies to the children – Jady neglected to give out the bags of lollies. She has donated these to Santa to hand out to all the needy children on Christmas day.
What's Happening in the Vineyard 2006?
In our last newsletter we advised you that we had lost our back vineyard to frost and the front vineyard was not affected. Since our October newsletter the Yarra Valley was hit by a severe frost and unfortunately both our blocks were severely affected. Hence there is very little, if no fruit on our vines.
Harvest 2007
Due to frost damage there will be no harvest in 2007 at Wonga Estate. We are happy to report that the Heathcote vineyard has not been affected by frost and we will be producing a 2007 Heathcote Shiraz. That’s a big sigh of relief!!!!
Wine Bottling
2006 Chardonnay – Greg has blended the chardonnay samples and we believe this wine is by far our best chardonnay. This will be ready for bottling early January.
2005 Heathcote Shiraz - Eight barrels have been blended together to tank this week. Greg is currently doing his trials and we expect to bottle later this week. Producing approximately 200 cases. All going well this wine may be released June/July. To avoid disappointment pre-orders are currently being taken.
